To be eligible to present an application for Canadian citizenship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a permanent resident of Canada and this status must not be in doubt. You must not be the subject of an immigration investigation, an immigration inquiry, or a removal order
- You must have resided in Canada for at least 3 years, (1,095 days) in the past 4 years before applying
- You must show that you have adequate knowledge of French or English
- You must not have been convicted or currently charged of a criminal offense or an order to leave Canada
- Possess sufficient knowledge of Canada’s culture
